In 1963 a butcher
from New York by the name of William C. Baldo bought the property,
but had no plans for using it as a working farm.
An early renovation project undertaken by Mr. Baldo was tearing down
the two story section of the barn between the main barn and the house
because of the potential fire hazard.
In 1966, a garage
was constructed where a smaller garage and chicken coop once stood.
The floor to the garage was poured by Bernard Record and the building
was constructed by Dean Zeller.
In 1973 William subdivided the property and sold 227 acres on the east
side of the highway to The Windham Foundation.
In 1986 12.6 acres and the old
school house were deeded to William and Alice Baldo. William, no longer
living on the farm, rented the property to Ed and Liz Tetrault in the
early 80’s
and then to Earl and Lorraine Douglas from 1989 until 1996. |
